Fully Electric Vehicles
Many of GLYSANTIN® traditional coolant products are already successfully used in electric vehicles. Products such as GLYSANTIN® G30®, G40®, G48® as well as G64® and G65® help to keep electric vehicles and their batteries in the ideal temperature area and therefore enable optimum driving range. These products not only offer excellent stability at high temperatures, but also effectively prevent corrosion in a broad temperature window. Beyond that, BASF is developing a dedicated product family for electric vehicles to meet critical requirements in safety, performance, and lifetime of the respective powertrain technology. Coolants from the ELECTRIFIED™ product family offer, in addition to the well-known protection, a low electrical conductivity. This is a critical measure for improved safety performance but also an enabler for new cooling concepts.
Fuel Cell vehicles
For current advancements in fuel cell technologies, GLYSANTIN® has developed a coolant especially for fuel cells, called GLYSANTIN® FC G20 Ready Mix. While providing the renowned triple protection against corrosion, overheating and frost the product maintains extremely low electrical conductivity. By doing so, secures the electrical safety of the system and reduces loss of energy.

Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Hybrid electric vehicles represent the most complex challenge from a thermal management point of view. The internal combustion engine requires coolants with excellent overheating protection while the power electronics, the electric engine, and the battery pack will operate at significantly lower temperatures. Products such as GLYSANTIN® G40®, GLYSANTIN® G64® and GLYSANTIN® G65® work effectively in a broad temperature window, allowing for outstanding heat transfer and corrosion protection in the high temperature cooling circuit of the internal combustion engine as well the low temperature cooling circuit for the battery pack.
Internal Combustion Engines
In order to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions of combustion engines, smaller, lighter and hotter engines are being developed. New construction materials are being used in the manufacture of the engine cooling system. As a result, problems are observed in modern engine coolant systems, e.g., deposits, reduced functionality of the heat exchanger and increased corrosion. Those technical challenges require new engine coolant technologies. Especially our products GLYSANTIN® G64® and GLYSANTIN® G65® set a new benchmark for the sustainable protection of modern downsized engines.
