  • Cape to Cape 2015 with Glysantin® – the countdown starts

Premium coolant under the most extreme conditions

Premium coolant under the most extreme conditions

The time has finally come. On 11 September the team of Rainer Zietlow will set off on his second spectacular world record drive, the Cape to Cape 2015, from the South African Cape Agulhas. Once again the premium coolant  Glysantin® will accompany him under the bonnet.

Travelling in the opposite direction to the 2014 tour, the drive will this year pass from the southernmost tip of Africa to the northernmost tip of the continent of Europe. This time Zietlow wants to cover the approx. 18,000 kilometres to the North Cape non-stop with his two teammates Marius Biela and Sam Roach in less than 10 days in a conventional VW Touareg V6 TDI and thus break the world record he set himself in 2014. An undertaking that is full of challenges for which the drivers and their car are best prepared.

On roads and trails that are in some cases very difficult, the route passes through the countries South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Egypt, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and finally Norway. Deep potholes, numerous winding roads and the notorious "Road of Hell" in northern Kenya place extreme demands upon the drivers and not least the car and its drive system. During this tour Rainer Zietlow will of course put his faith in Glysantin® once more due to his very positive experiences with this BASF premium coolant in order to ideally protect the engine and its cooling system in the face of extreme temperatures of more than 48 degrees Celsius in the Sudan or the freezing temperatures in the North.

He should know – Zietlow can point to numerous experiences during world record drives under the most severe conditions:

Rainer Zietlow, from Mannheim, has been repeatedly setting himself new challenges throughout the world since 2005. He set the altitude record for a series-produced car when driving over Chile’s highest volcano, with an altitude of 6,081 metres. He circumnavigated the Earth with a gas-powered VW Caddy. He completed the Panamericana route, traversed Russia and connected the two partner cities of Melbourne and St. Petersburg with a breathtaking courier trip.

Zietlow, who enjoys chasing records, is a man who loves extremes, an adventurer who wants to overcome the barriers of what is possible, a driver who has to be able to completely rely upon his car. Hence, he is an ideal partner for Glysantin® to demonstrate the outstanding qualities of the premium coolant in practice. For this reason Glysantin® is not just present in the car but also on the car's logo during the current Cape to Cape Tour 2015.
